A.Terra: Sicily between culture and design in the USA

A.Terra: la Sicilia tra cultura e design negli USA

There are places that have no physical boundaries, yet manage to convey an identity with strength and authenticity. A.Terra - a Sicilian experience is one of them: a digital space that brings the best of Sicilian culture to the United States, including gastronomic excellences, craftsmanship, and design.

In this interview, we recount the vision behind A.Terra and our collaboration, born from the shared desire to share a contemporary, authentic, and sensory Sicily.

How did A.Terra come about, and what is your vision?

A.terra was born from the desire to create a bridge between Sicily and the United States. It's not just a simple online shop, but a curated space where we select products that tell a story: that of a land rich in culture, tradition, and innovation.

Our vision is to bring Sicily to life through experiences — not just objects, but emotions, scents, and flavors.

What makes your selection unique?

Every product on A.Terra is carefully chosen. We seek out businesses that share authentic values: craftsmanship, quality, sustainability, and territorial identity.

From gastronomy to design, every element contributes to building a coherent narrative of contemporary Sicily.

How did the collaboration with Elena Scarlata come about?

The collaboration arose naturally, from the meeting of two similar visions.
On one hand, A.Terra's desire to bring authentic Mediterranean products to the United States; on the other, Elena's work, which, through patterns, fabrics, and objects, tells the story of a modern, sensory, and refined Sicily.

As Nancy, Founder of A.Terra, says:

"The A.terra textile collection initially stemmed from a desire to pay homage to the beauty and meticulous craftsmanship of traditional Sicilian majolica tiles. We chose to focus on the details and elegance of Sicilian design elements, moving beyond the folkloric images often used to represent our culture.

I really appreciated Elena's willingness to collaborate with us to achieve this shared vision and the fact that we shared the same way of interpreting and valuing the Sicilian heritage."

This creative synergy gave rise to an authentic collaboration, based on respect for tradition but also on the desire to narrate a new, contemporary, and international Sicily.

What do her products represent within A.Terra?

Elena Scarlata's products bring an aesthetic and tactile dimension to our project.
They are not just objects, but daily experiences: textiles, beauty rituals, details that transform everyday life into something special.

They perfectly represent the encounter between contemporary design and Mediterranean roots.

This collaboration is more than a partnership: it's a continuous dialogue between cultures, between Sicily and the United States, between tradition and contemporaneity.

Through A.terra, my products find a new home overseas, bringing with them colors, scents, and stories of the Mediterranean.
